2015 UTV World Championship presented by UTV Underground.
What a phenomenal weekend out in Laughlin, Nevada for the UTV World Championship race. We had our fully loaded #1948 Monster Energy/SXSPerformance.com Pro UTV Build on the course! With a lot of hard work, countless hours and the drive to build this beast, driver Matt Burroughs and co-driver Matt Lasher pulled through with 7th Place! This is great for going into the 3rd race of the series, the Mint 400 held in Las Vegas, Nevada. Scoring 7th place at the UTV World Championship means we start 6th off the line at the Mint 400! What a great feeling and accomplishment for the drivers and team behind the #1948 race car. To get a sense of the organized chaos, here is a re-cap of the race from Matt Lasher’s point of view:
“What a fun weekend! 2 UTV world championships in one weekend at one place. Over 100 SXS's between all of the classes. Tons of racers, spectators and crewmembers. I pulled into Laughlin late Thursday night after school. Early friday morning we headed out to the main pit to get ready for the Family Poker Run sponsored by SXSPerformance.com. We got one lap to go and check out the race course. The course was sandy, fast, and rough. Lots of jumps and a few places you had to be careful of or you could end your day really fast. After the pre-run we loaded up the race car and cruised over to tech and contingency. We flew through it, knowing we had to finish up a couple things on the car before race day. We got the car finished up and went to the drivers meeting friday night. Typical Best In The Desert meeting, do this don't do that, until @warfightermade got on stage. One of the most motivating speeches I had ever heard. Just what we needed after not doing too well at the Parker 250?. We grabbed some dinner and headed back to the hotel to get some rest. The day had finally come, race day! Started the day off watching the motorcycles and quads race. Then it was our turn, the desert race. For the desert race we did 10, 17 mile laps. With 50 cars we knew the course was going to get rough really fast. Sitting in the race car with 15 cars in the row in front of us and 14 UTV's next to us and who knows how many behind us. ?Matt Burroughs and I started talking about our plan off the start. Do we go for it and try to get the hole shot or do we stay back and let everyone else fight each other? We both decided to go for a fast, but have a safe start. We didn't want to be the last car but we didn't want our day to end in the first turn. The first row went off. No crashes, that made both of us feel way better. Then 60 seconds later the green flag dropped and we were off. I was watching the car to the right of us and he was nowhere to be seen. I looked in the mirror and saw an angry pack of cars on our rear bumper. I took a quick look in front of us and sure enough, no one in front of us. We did it. We got the hole shot! After both of our excitement died down we got into our groove. Passed a couple cars, got passed by a few. We weren't here to win. We wanted a nice solid finish with our brand new car and a good starting position for the Mint 400. We were passing guys broken left and right. Checking off laps like they were nothing. Had some good battles with a couple guys. Then our siren went out. What do we do now? We are getting stuck behind lap traffic and slower cars without a way to tell them we were there. We didn't want to just nerf them without warning; so I started flashing our KC HiLiTES flex series light. Sure enough people started pulling over and letting us by. We were trying to figure out when we wanted to stop for a splash of gas. We knew we had to do it between lap 5 and 8. Lap 5 came and we decided not to stop. We had a couple guys behind us and we didn't want to just let them by. Lap 6 came and we had just finished a pass we had to work really hard for. We didn't want to let all that work go to waste. Lap 7 came. We had a nice gap between the group of cars behind us. I made the call to stop now. We pulled in the hot pit. 5 gallons of gas and a quick look over, 30 seconds and we were out. Not even enough time to take a drink of water and wipe off my visor. The course was getting bad. Super deep ruts. We backed it down a little. We wanted to make sure we got a finish no matter what. Our crew was giving us split times and we were running in the top 10. We were beyond ecstatic. A new team and a new car, racing against some of the best drivers in the world and we were running within the top 10. Our front diff went out. No 4-wheel drive. The ruts were getting even worse and now we didn't have the front end pulling us through. We were doing the best we could. Running a nice steady pace for the last half of the race. Still passing cars broken knowing that the course was putting a beating on the cars. Before we knew it we saw the checkered flag. What a great feeling. All the hard work and all the late nights paid off. 7th place. Just what we wanted going into the Mint. I want to give a huge thank you to Matt Burroughs for giving me this opportunity to build, prep, drive, and co-drive in a BITD Pro UTV. Without; Monster Energy, SXSPerformance, GBC Motorsports, OMF Performance, PRP Seats, Walker Evans Racing, KC HiLiTES, Torco USA, Summers Brothers, Vendetta Motorsports, we wouldn't be able to do what we do. See everyone at the Mint and be on the lookout for ?#1948 Race car!
Lets also give a huge pat on the back for Matt Burroughs, Matt Lasher, and the team behind them to pull through 7th place at the UTV World Championships. We, SXSPerformance are excited to head out to the Mint 400, in Las Vegas Nevada March 11-15th. Thank you to UTV Underground and Mad Media for putting on this years UTV World Championship races.

Razor Sharp Performance has Officially Been Turbocharged
RZR XP® Turbo EPS takes RZR to a new level

Polaris RZR is the gold standard in recreational vehicles due to the family’s ultimate combination of power, suspension, agility, comfort and customization. Owning a RZR is not only about the desert, dunes and trails one can conquer but the lifestyle that goes along with that experience. Polaris continues to innovate the RZR family to enhance that experience by consistently taking off-roading to a new level. Today, Polaris raises the bar yet again by launching the all-new 2016 RZR XP Turbo EPS! Razor sharp performance has officially been turbocharged!
Unlike other turbo offerings on the market and true to RZR’s heritage of building complete machines that set the vehicles apart from the competition, the new RZR XP Turbo EPS is completely engineered, front to back, to translate industry-leading power into unmatched performance. To deliver maximum durability and performance, Polaris has performed substantial testing on the engine with enough test miles to travel around the world more than nine times; and paired the engine with an all-new stronger driveline to ensure all the power gets to the ground reliably. The vehicle brings significant innovations to each of the hallmark Power, Suspension, Agility, Comfort and Customization aspects of RZR to provide the ultimate off-road experience.
Specifically built to take extreme performance to a new level, the all-new Polaris ProStar® Turbo engine, with turbocharger, provides an industry-leading 144 horsepower, an impressive acceleration of 0-60 mph/96.6 kph in 5.89 seconds and more than 45 percent more torque. The ProStar Turbo is the most powerful side-by-side engine available from the factory for unequalled power, torque, durability and excitement. The new engine was developed for extreme performance and features an impressive amount of high performance parts including forged pistons, an upgraded 270-degree firing order forged crankshaft, high strength connecting rods, a closed deck cylinder, sodium filled exhaust valves and a new oil lubrication system. For consistent performance at all temperatures, the vehicle also includes a new liquid charge air cooler with front-mounted radiator and high-flow electric pump. To control the massive power delivered by the ProStar Turbo, the engine management system has also been updated to include knock detection, boost control and a high-flow return style fuel system ensuring that the engine delivers maximum power under all conditions, altitudes and temperatures.
To harness all that power and deliver it to the ground, the RZR XP Turbo EPS features a brand-new, fully-engineered and stronger driveline for maximum durability. The ultra-efficient driveline features an all-new, high performance PVT system with all-new clutches and drive belt; a new, stronger transmission with geared reverse and stronger shafts; and a High-Performance, True On-Demand All-Wheel Drive System to distribute the massive 144 horsepower to the ground. The new, high-flow, targeted clutch air cooling system is designed to reduce clutch and belt temperature to enhance and extend belt life.
The RZR XP Turbo EPS boasts the most precisely-tuned suspension due to the vehicle’s highly-tuned FOX Podium® Internal Bypass Shocks offering the plushest ride and best handling found on a side-by-side. The shocks generate progressive damping force that gives the vehicle a smooth ride with all the bottom-out resistance expected from an ultra-performance off-road vehicle. Large diameter shock bodies (3 in/7.6 cm rear, 2.5 in/6.4 cm front), adjustable remote reservoirs and increased fluid capacity provide dramatic improvements in heat dissipation, fade resistance and durability. The internal bypass technology uses five compression zones to provide progressive damping as the shock gently absorbs bumps and stiffens to prevent bottoming. Combine that with three zones of rebound damping to minimize pitching and harsh top out to give you an ultra-plush ride and better handling over a wider range of terrain at any speed.
To complement the shocks, Polaris outfitted the RZR XP Turbo EPS with bigger coil-over springs. The progressive rate upper spring is a lighter-weight spring that absorbs small impacts while the stiffer main spring maintains ground clearance and absorbs bigger impacts in rough terrain. The suspension set up ensures the RZR XP Turbo EPS can tackle the toughest terrain while keeping the ride plush and enjoyable.
To conquer the whoops, the RZR XP Turbo EPS 90 in/228.6 cm wheelbase, paired with its 3-Link trailing arm rear suspension, gives the vehicle 18 in/45.7 cm of rear travel and a whopping 13.5 in/34.3 cm of ground clearance. The 3-link geometry allows surface-hugging grip as the vehicle pulls through corners from the use of optimized camber gain, and the length of the trailing arm provides a better ride. Up front, the RZR XP Turbo EPS features an exclusive front suspension geometry that results in less steering effort for easy maneuverability. Paired with industry-exclusive 29 in/73.7 cm Maxxis Bighorn tires on 14 in/35.6 cm cast rims for a better ride and higher resistance to pinch flats, there’s nothing that stands in the vehicle’s way.
The RZR XP Turbo EPS is the best handling sport side-by-side because it’s the most responsive to both the driver and terrain, and provides unmatched agility in every condition. The vehicle’s new front swaybar and re-tuned rear swaybar dramatically decrease body roll for a more confidence-inspiring ride while the vehicle’s durable High Performance, True On-Demand All-Wheel-Drive system provides the ultimate in responsiveness to the terrain. The system features a close ratio final drive to keep the front wheels pulling stronger and longer maximizing power delivery to the ground. The system is paired with standard Electronic Power Steering and an 18 ft/5.5 m turning radius to provide unmatched point-and-shoot handling making the vehicle very responsive to the driver. For even more control, the unit has quick, two-turn, lock-to-lock steering allowing the operator to showcase the point-and-shoot agility the vehicle has in response to all terrains.
The RZR XP Turbo EPS not only has industry-leading power but industry-leading braking performance for precision stopping. The upgraded brakes feature large, new, triple piston front calipers, dual piston rear calipers, new stainless steel rotors and large 248mm ventilated discs on all four corners, for the best stopping power on a side-by-side vehicle.
The driving experience of a RZR is like no other due to the revolutionary comfort aspects that are only found on RZR vehicles, including the new RZR XP Turbo EPS. The vehicles were thoughtfully designed to provide occupants with the most exhilarating, comfortable ride on the market. From the patented design that places the engine behind the seat to the placement of the occupants comfortably towards the middle of the vehicle, RZR’s design provides a low center of gravity for unparalleled handling and ground-hugging performance. Coupled with cab features such as bolstered seats, tilt steering, space-optimized foot rests and factory-installed quarter doors that keep the occupants planted and secure, the RZR ride experience is like no other.
For an optimized driver positioning, the RZR XP Turbo EPS also features a new seat angle for a more comfortable driving experience. The angle situates the driver closer to the steering wheel bringing the elbows closer to the body for less arm fatigue and a more natural driving position. For increased comfort, adjustable seatbelt sliders provide the occupants with the ability to change the position based on their height or comfort level for the most enjoyable, adrenaline-pumping ride experience yet.
RZR enthusiasts love to accessorize their vehicles and the RZR XP Turbo EPS provides revolutionary customization due to its large 660 watt charging system, unmatched accessory integration and more than 145 exclusive accessories.
